On A Sunday Afternoon

Most of our winter weekends are spent shuffling gear and kid from one frozen hockey rink to another. This past weekend, Aurora was off with her mom, and as a result we had a couple free days to share with our friends. On Sunday we were called to Ithaca with the intention of photographing the Lyon family after church. One thing I have to say: there is never a dull moment with the Lyon family. Within fifteen minutes of setting up the laughter was in full force. Every time Nancy and I get a chance to spend with the Lyons, we always come away with new stories, sore cheeks from laughing and just an overall feeling of well-being. Good folks for sure.

A couple weekends back, our daughters had finished a game in Skaneateles and were in serious need of a quick lunch. There we were in Johnny Angel's, chowing down on great food, and the time just flew by. This year has been fascinating to watch as our girls have reached that age where they are becoming so self-directed. Hockey may be what brought us together, but I know our family is always waiting for our next chance to get together with the Lyon family.

  1. Thank you Kathryn. There are so many great images from this session that I am having a huge difficulty choosing which ones to edit and to present to the family. This shoot also made me realize that I need to spend a lot more time with my speedlights in hand, in all sorts of locations, to better improve my improvisational ability with light. No matter how you look at it, there is a mountain of fun learning ahead.
