This year's lake training at Cayuga Lake Seido Karate couldn't have happened on a more perfect summer day. The sky was blue, the sun was warm (but not too hot), the lake was cool (but not frigid), and best of all, the turnout was fantastic.
Lake training began with meditation, stretches, some punching and kicking warm-ups,... and then THE PLUNGE.
Trying to do push-ups in the water is much harder than you'd think. The hardest part apparently, is hearing the kyoshis telling you when to come up!

Aurora and I went down to the Ithaca Yacht Club on Cayuga Lake this morning just after the crack of dawn to photograph the start of the 10th Annual Women Swimmin' event. Here are just a few of the images from today. More images are on Facebook.
Women Swimmin' is a 1.2 mile community swim (not a race!) across Cayuga Lake for women ages 18 and over. Together we raise funds which will go directly to support patient and family services here in Tompkins County.
This is the Haendel, the same boat that Aurora works on as part of the Floating Classroom. She made a comment this morning that she had never seen the Haendel make such good speed moving across the water as she did this morning.
